LR LIFETAKT Herbal Fasting Tea – for days when you forget to drink enough

£27.59

Do you get to the evening and realise you have hardly had anything to drink all day? LR Herbal Fasting Tea is a loose herbal blend that makes drinking enough feel less like a chore than yet another glass of plain water. Lemongrass, rooibos, nettle leaves and liquorice root are mixed with 20% green tea and 20% maté leaves. LR suggests 3 to 4 cups a day, and each cup needs just 1 to 2 teaspoons of tea and about 200 ml of boiling water. It is a food rather than a capsule, so it simply becomes part of what you drink.

The pack holds 250 g of loose tea. Price at the official LR shop as of 27/10/2026.

This is what you get

  • An easier way to drink more: a cup of herbal tea with real flavour instead of another glass of plain water.
  • Six plants in one blend: lemongrass, rooibos, nettle leaves and liquorice root with 20% green tea and 20% maté leaves.
  • A simple routine: you brew 1 to 2 teaspoons per cup for 5 to 7 minutes, and LR suggests 3 to 4 cups a day.
  • A good fit while you watch what you eat: unsweetened tea counts towards your daily fluids.
  • A generous pack: 250 g of loose tea that you portion yourself.

Is drinking enough the thing that always slips in a busy day?

It usually starts well. There is a coffee at nine, and then the morning disappears into emails, school runs or meetings. By lunchtime the glass of water on your desk is still full, and by the evening you realise you have had very little to drink. Plain water is sensible, but after the third glass many people simply lose interest.

A drink that tastes of something makes the habit easier to keep. LR Herbal Fasting Tea is LR’s answer to that: a loose herbal tea that you brew by the cup, hot and fragrant, with a gentle lift from green tea and maté leaves. LR presents it as a tasty everyday drink that makes it easier to drink enough through the day, including while you are on a diet.

How much is enough? LR quotes the German Nutrition Society (DGE), which recommends about 1.5 litres of water or unsweetened tea a day, and more in hot weather, when you are physically active or during a diet. Three to four cups of about 200 ml each come to 600 to 800 ml, so the tea alone covers roughly half of that amount. The rest can come from water or other unsweetened drinks.

The word “fasting” in the name is simply the product name. This is not a slimming or detox tea, and it will not make you lose weight on its own. Its job is more modest and more realistic: to make it easier to keep your fluids up, on normal days as well as when you are cutting back.

What goes into the blend?

Ingredient Share What it brings
Lemongrass (Cymbopogon flexuosus) first on the list It forms the herbal base of the blend and shapes its flavour.
Green tea (Camellia sinensis) 20% It is one of the two tea leaves in the blend and a natural source of caffeine.
Maté leaves (Ilex paraguariensis) 20% LR combines them with the herbs in a special blend, and they also contain caffeine naturally.
Rooibos (Aspalathus linearis) part of the blend It rounds off the herbal mix.
Nettle leaves (Urtica dioica, Urtica urens) part of the blend They are another herbal component.
Liquorice root (Glycyrrhiza glabra) part of the blend It is part of the herbal mix. Please read the note on blood pressure below.

The full ingredient list reads: lemongrass, green tea (20%), maté leaves (20%), rooibos, nettle leaves and liquorice root. There is nothing else in the pack, so there is no added sugar or sweetener, and you decide whether to add anything to your cup.

How do you brew it safely and get the best from it?

  • Use 1 to 2 teaspoons per cup and pour about 200 ml of freshly boiled water over the tea.
  • Cover the cup and let it steep for 5 to 7 minutes, then strain. LR stresses that the tea is only a safe food when it is prepared this way, so always use boiling water and the full steeping time.
  • Drink 3 to 4 cups a day, as LR recommends.
  • Store the pack somewhere cool and dry.

It helps to tie the cups to fixed points in your day. You might have the first one with breakfast, take the second to your desk mid-morning, enjoy the third after lunch and finish with the fourth in the afternoon. Because the blend contains green tea and maté, you may prefer to keep your cups to the earlier part of the day if caffeine affects your sleep.

250 g loose tea 3 to 4 cups, each with 1 to 2 teaspoons of tea £27.59

LR does not state how many cups a pack makes, because that depends on whether you use one teaspoon or two. For that reason we have not worked out a cost per day.

Is there anything to watch out for?

  • It contains liquorice. If you have high blood pressure, you should avoid drinking large amounts of this tea.
  • It contains caffeine from green tea and maté. LR does not state how much caffeine a cup contains. If you are sensitive to caffeine or have been advised to limit it, for example during pregnancy, check with your GP or midwife first.
  • Do you also take Mind Master Extreme? According to its label, it should not be taken on the same day as other green tea products, and this tea contains green tea.
  • Always brew it with boiling water and let it steep for the full 5 to 7 minutes. A cold infusion is not a safe way to prepare it.

What do people ask about it?

How many cups should I drink a day?

LR recommends 3 to 4 cups a day, each made with 1 to 2 teaspoons of tea and about 200 ml of boiling water.

Does the tea contain caffeine?

Yes. Green tea and maté leaves both contain caffeine naturally, and together they make up 40% of the blend. LR does not give the caffeine content per cup.

Can I make it with cold water?

No. LR says the tea must be brewed with boiling water and steeped, covered, for 5 to 7 minutes. Only then is it a safe food.

Will this tea help me lose weight?

No tea does that on its own, and this one is not designed to. It helps you drink enough, which matters on any day and especially while you are on a diet. Your weight depends on what you eat and how active you are.
