This is what you get
- A taste you’ll stick with: 9% blossom honey takes the edge off the natural bitterness of aloe vera.
- Less tired by the afternoon: you get 60 mg vitamin C per day (75%). Vitamin C contributes to the reduction of tiredness and fatigue.
- Backing for your immune system: vitamin C contributes to the normal function of the immune system and to normal energy-yielding metabolism.
- Skin and iron: vitamin C contributes to normal collagen formation for the normal function of skin and increases iron absorption.
- The 90% inner leaf gel is checked by SGS INSTITUT FRESENIUS, IASC and Kölner Liste® and made by LR in Germany.
Did you give up on aloe vera because of the taste?
It is the most common reason people stop. Pure aloe vera gel has a sharp, slightly bitter flavour, and a habit that tastes unpleasant rarely lasts beyond the first week. Traditional with Honey was made for exactly that problem. The blossom honey softens the flavour so that a capful before breakfast feels like a small pleasure rather than a chore, and that is what turns a good intention into a routine.
There is a practical benefit too. The recommended 3 × 30 ml a day provides 60 mg of vitamin C, three quarters of the daily reference intake. Vitamin C contributes to the reduction of tiredness and fatigue, to the normal function of the immune system, to normal energy-yielding metabolism and to the normal functioning of the nervous system. It also increases iron absorption, which is handy if you drink your gel just before a meal.
This is LR’s original aloe vera drink and still the one most people start with. If you are new to aloe, or you have tried a pure gel and found it hard going, begin here.

How do you know it’s good quality?

SGS INSTITUT FRESENIUS quality seal
One of Germany’s best-known testing institutes checks the gel regularly and independently. According to LR, the seal confirms high product quality from pure aloe vera leaf gel, gentle processing and high production standards.
IASC certified
The International Aloe Science Council uses audits and laboratory analyses to check that genuine aloe vera quality is in the bottle. The certification is renewed every year, and according to LR it also confirms sustainable cultivation in Mexico.
Kölner Liste®
A specialist laboratory has tested the gel for doping substances such as anabolic steroids and stimulants, and it is listed on the Kölner Liste® (Cologne List). That is reassuring if you compete in tested sport, and a sign of clean production if you don’t.
Made in Germany
LR makes its drinking gels in Ahlen, North Rhine-Westphalia, in one of Europe’s most modern production sites for aloe vera drinking gels.
What’s in the bottle?
| Ingredient | Amount | What it does for you |
|---|---|---|
| Aloe vera gel (Aloe barbadensis Miller, from Mexico) | 90% (83.83 g per daily 90 ml) | It is the pure inner leaf fillet, without the green outer leaf. |
| Blossom honey | 9% | Its mild, natural sweetness makes the habit easy to keep. |
| Vitamin C | 60 mg per 90 ml (75% of the reference intake) | It contributes to the reduction of tiredness and fatigue and to the normal function of the immune system. |
| Citric acid, xanthan gum, potassium sorbate | small amounts | They keep it fresh and smooth and give it a longer shelf life. |
How will it fit into your day?
- Have 30 ml three times a day, which is three capfuls, ideally before meals.
- Neat or mixed: stir it into a glass of orange juice or a morning smoothie if you prefer it even milder.
- Make it automatic: keep the bottle at the front of the fridge next to the milk, and pour a capful when you put the kettle on.
- Shake before use and keep the bottle in the fridge once opened, then use it up promptly.
- Do not exceed the recommended 90 ml a day. Keep out of reach of young children.
- The colour can change over time. According to LR this is normal for a natural product and does not affect quality.
| Pack | Lasts at 90 ml a day | Price | Per day, roughly |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 bottle (1 litre) | about 11 days | £40.00 | £3.64 |
| Set of 3 (3 litres) | about 33 days | £110.99 | £3.36 |
Worth knowing: if you plan to drink it for a full month, the set of three works out cheaper per day.
Which drinking gel is right for you?
All five LR aloe vera drinking gels carry the SGS INSTITUT FRESENIUS quality seal, are IASC certified and are listed on the Kölner Liste®. The difference is in the taste and in what each one adds:

|---|---|---|---|---|
| Traditional with Honey | plain aloe tastes too bitter for you, or you are just starting out | 90%, with 9% blossom honey | 60 mg vitamin C (75%) | £40.00 |

| Intense Sivera | you prefer a herbal, less sweet taste | 90%, with 7% honey and 2% nettle extract | 80 mg vitamin C (100%) | £44.89 |
| Immune Plus | you want zinc and selenium alongside vitamin C for your immune system | 85%, with honey, ginger and lemon | 80 mg vitamin C, 10 mg zinc, 45 µg selenium (each 82–100%) | £44.89 |
| Active Freedom | you lead an active life and want vitamin C for normal collagen formation in cartilage and bones | 88%, orange flavour | 45 mg vitamin C, 7.2 mg vitamin E, plus collagen, glucosamine and chondroitin | £44.89 |
Is there anything to watch out for?
- Babies under 12 months should not have it: the gel contains honey, which is not suitable for infants in their first year.
- Are you keeping an eye on sugar? Honey adds natural sugars. The Peach gel has no added sugar.
- Are you pregnant, breastfeeding or taking medication? Have a word with your GP or pharmacist before you start.
